History
The Dickinson Police Department has
always placed the safety and welfare of it citizenry as a number one priority.
In order to insure your safety we aggressively attack those problems in our
community that cause the most disruption. These programs are commonly referred
to as “pro-active” programs. Pro-active enforcement targets different levels
of the same problem thereby causing a disruption of the normal flow of
operations. Although we may never rid our community of this problem we can at
least make it difficult for those who choose to operate unlawfully within our
City limits. This message of no tolerance filters to those who choose to violate
the law that your local Police Department will not rest or stop until the job is
done.
Enforcement History
1989- The
Dickinson Police Department joins the newly formed Galveston County Narcotic
Task Force that is made up of several other Galveston County agencies working
off a State grant to combat narcotics.

1999-
2000 Dickinson still has one man assigned to
the Galveston County Narcotics Task Force and joins the Galveston resident
office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to work a local impact case
that results in the arrest and conviction of 9 local conspirators.

2004-
Dickinson remained as one of the few agencies
in Galveston County that still had a man participating in the Task Force that
unfortunately lost State funding and ceased to exist June 1, 2004. Dickinson P.D.
re-assigns that position to the D.E.A. task force.
