Planning & Development


The purpose of planning is to provide and promote quality of place and sound development within the City of Dickinson. The Planning & Development Division maintains an updated Comprehensive Plan to provide policy recommendations and regulations related to land development. The staff works cooperatively with design professions, property owners and developers from the concept stage to completion of the project.

The purpose of zoning is to promote the health, safety, community-accepted standards or morals as well as the general welfare of the residents of Dickinson. The Zoning Division works toward conserving the value of buildings and encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout the city. Zoning regulations cover a variety of development issues including land use, dimensional requirements, parking, and signs. The Planning & Development Division handles all Annexation procedures by the City of Dickinson.
