Great Blue Heron Statues
The first five Great Blue Herons are now proudly on display throughout the City of Dickinson. Seeded by the City's HOT Tax and coordinated by the Dickinson Art Guild, this community partnership has been a great success. Each heron represents a charitable component through a donation to the preservation of the bayou, funding for future arts programs in the City, and the general welfare of the City.
The herons are to be placed in front of businesses and bayou-front homes in the City to create a scavenger hunt much like you see in cities across Texas. With the first five locations being:
- City Hall - "Aviary" painted by Doug Hiser - 4403 Hwy 3
- Boat Ramp - "Diversity" painted by Anat Ronen - Hwy 3, Dickinson
- Dickinson ISD Administration Building - "Queen of the Bayou" painted by Annika Farmer - 2218 FM 517
- Paul Hopkins Park - "Ocean Motion" painted by Patsy Lindamood - 1000 FM 517
- Railroad Museum - "Ernie the Storyteller" painted by Jen Sumrall and DHS Artists 2022 - 218 FM 517
