City of Dickinson Appoints Michael Berezin as Dickinson Police Department’s Police Chief
Dickinson, Texas – May 9, 2023 - The City of Dickinson is proud to announce the hiring of Michael Berezin as the new Dickinson Police Department Police Chief following an extensive search. Berezin, who has 34 years of experience in law enforcement, is a cross-trained public safety executive with multi-disciplinary skills, and his passion for community policing will be a great addition to the Dickinson Police Department.
Berezin's extensive experience enhancing organizational performance and engaging community cooperation and involvement were key factors in his selection as police chief. He has a long history of creating a high-performance environment that fosters interagency collaboration, promotes diversity, and will develop personal accountability at every level within the department.
Berezin was most recently the Chief of Police for the Missouri City, Texas Police Department since 2013. He started with the department in 1989 as a Patrol Officer and worked his way up through the ranks to Chief. He is a graduate of the College of the Mainland Law Enforcement Academy and holds numerous beneficial certifications and trainings.
In recognition of his outstanding service, Berezin has received several awards, including the Greater Houston Area 100 Club Officer of the Year (2001), the Fort Bend County 100 Club Officer of the Year (1990), and the Jaws of Life Green Cross Life Saving Award from the Hale Fire Protection (1989).
Berezin is also an active member of several law enforcement associations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Texas Police Chief’s Association, the FBI National Academy Associates, and the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (Texas VI Chapter). He is also a lifetime member of the LEMIT-Leadership Command College Alumni Association and a member of the Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force Board of Governors, as well as the Advisory Board for the Fort Bend County Child Advocacy Center.

The City of Dickinson City Council voted 7-0 to confirm the appointment of Berezin to Chief during the May 9th City Council meeting. He is scheduled to begin with DPD on June 5, 2023.
